AUSTIN--The Texas Senate today gave preliminary approval with a 20-9 vote to SB 182 authored by Sen. Dan Patrick (R-Houston), which would require doctors performing abortions to make an ultrasound image available to a woman at least two hours before proceeding with the abortion procedure. The bill does not require that the woman view the ultrasound, but aims to ensure that woman are given what is necessary for a fully informed decision in regard to their health care and medical treatment.
