Bruce Tough Trip

While reviewing this information regarding a trip Mr Bruce Tough took to Austin, a couple things stuck warrant your attention. $40 for valet parking at the Austin Omni Hotel? Maybe valet parking is mandatory at the hotel? If so, should Mr Tough use better judgement when picking hotels for trips that residents are paying for? CATW believes that Mr Tough may have taken family members on this trip. Below receipt is a supporting document for this assumption.
Update: The WCSC board of directors ave concluded that Mr Tough did not violate any travel policies.

The number of guests at the hotel shows 2 adults.

Valet parking is not Mandatory. You can self park, but you have to walk a long ways, like 2-3 blocks of underground, and through hallways etc. You may be parking directly under your room, but you have to walk quite a ways.... plus you park just past the Valet slots.

Typically an entry on a ticket is for separate plates whereas normally the enchalida would just show a quantity of 2!

I see nothing unusual with this receipt. Let's assume Bruce was having a meal with other people attending the conference and they were discussing issues important to The Woodlands. It is the normal business practice that on small dining bills that one person will pick up the check. Does anyone really think this is a problem?

When it is my tax money or my fees money and someone is living high on the Hog... it is my concern and my business. If you look at state officials allowances for meals, rooms and travel there is a fixed amount that is reimbursable. The $200+ hotel room doubles that allowance, as does the $40.00 valet parking and the $22.00 breakfast.

Where I come from if it's Dutch treat everyone picks up and carries their own weight. It would appear that the state rates should be applied here and the organization is due a reimbursement... pronto. This guy is not a disciple, king or a person of royalty, and to think that the LaQuinta's room rate is about 1/3 of the Omni, makes me want to look at each and every dime this character may have spent. It also brings into question his judgment or lack thereof.

By the way, at LQ you can park free, usually right outside your room!

Make sure you click on the blue links to look at all the receipts. Information like the $70.00 room service charge. If you are not aware, hotels generally don't show the kids on the hotel check in. If Bruce Tough does his trips for us like he does Moody Gardens for the Texas Bar College CLE’s, he takes his whole family. It has been reported that he signs into the classes and read the paper, or leaves to take his kids to the amusements. Come on people, the Kool Aide mentality is getting old.

I think if you only knew the appetite one works up driving the Family Truckster, a couple of Chicken enchilada's are not out of the ordinary. The family Truckster is a "beast" to handle. So what? A man of Mr. Toughs stature and importance can't be expected or endangered by the walk from a parking deck to the Omni....you concerned citizens of the Woodlands need to consider the consequence if something were to happen like his kids...i mean business contacts were left to linger in the Hot Texas heat and weren't able to get to the pool on time to conduct business (ie. Marco Polo). In reality the $40 should just give us all a piece of mind that Mr. Tough takes his position in such high self regards that he won't subject him or his famil....official business partners to unwarranted dangers or as some may say, "walking from the parking lot".
